EIF will implement Engineering City model in Ethiopia
On October 29 Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) and Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Addis Ababa, in the scope of which the sides will cooperate in the fields of technology, engineering and innovation.
In the framework of cooperation, it is planned to implement the Engineering City model in Ethiopia’s Talented and Gifted Center.
The MOU was signed by the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia Getahun Mekuria and Business Development Manager of Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) Amalya Yeghoyan.
Armenia and African countries kick off cooperation in the fields of high tech and engineering
This is just the beginning of a new, fruitful cooperation which will lead to the implementation of joint technological skill development projects, research and development lab creations, experience exchange collaborations in order to empower technological advancements in both countries.
According to Amalya Yeghoyan, the direct MOU signing with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia was a pleasant surprise.
“Prior to the visit it was planned that we will sign a MOU with Addis Ababa University but upon arrival we were informed that Minister Mercuria wishes the agreement to be signed with the Ministry. This was due to the fact that the Minister is giving huge importance to the initiative in the scope of which Engineering City program will be implemented in Talented and Gifted Center,” she stated.
Amalya Yeghoyan visited Ethiopia by the invitation of AfriLabs and Africal Union as a special speaker to participate in the AfriLabs Annual Gathering which is the largest gathering of the African innovation ecosystem. She delivered a speech on the topic “Research to Innovation: Bridging the Gap between Research Institutions, Universities and Hubs”.
Let us add that in April 2019 EIF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Computer Science of Addis Ababa University. It aims at organizing joint educational, research and academic programs in both countries, cooperation in the information technology sphere, implementation of joint projects, including incorporation of the Armenian National Engineering Labs “ANEL” model in Addis Ababa University.
