“I decided to learn programming because I was interested in technologies and problem-solving opportunities,” says Arman Aslanyan, who participated in the 6-month Web programming camp organized by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation as part of the Armenia Workforce Development Activity program.

Speaking about the programming camp, Arman notes that web programming immediately attracted attention due to its versatility.

“My goal for starting the camp was to gain solid programming knowledge and develop practical web development skills. I desired to master both front-end and back-end programming, so I started this path from the front-end.”

From Tavush province, Arman notes that this six-month camp held a comprehensive set of courses; the instructor was an experienced and skilled professional who gave concise explanations. The group projects allowed participants to work in teams, solving “coding challenges” together, and the practical tasks made the camp engaging and inspiring, strengthening the skills they learned.

“We also studied the latest website development tools and technologies during the camp. Learning about emerging trends and industry best practices has kept us motivated and excited in the ever-evolving programming world,” said Arman.

After completing the course, Arman did not stop; he emphasized continuous learning and acquired other skills. After completing a two-month internship, he was offered a job.

Arman values personal motivation and the great desire to move forward. Combining the knowledge from the course and the skills he acquired on the job, Arman is now confident that he can create well-structured and attractive web pages using the HTML and CSS programming languages. Still, he always keeps learning and picking up new abilities.

“My skill set now includes React, which helps me create scalable, modern, and efficient web applications. I can write dynamic and interactive functions using JavaScript. The camp also introduced me to a powerful JavaScript library,” he added.

Additionally, he stresses the need for similar classes and camps and encourages others to grab every chance to progress. “When learning programming, remember that it is an ongoing learning journey where challenges serve as opportunities for personal and professional growth.”

Armenia Workforce Development Activity is a five-year Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation and consortium partners, including the Armenian National Agrarian University Foundation, Fund of Armenian Relief and Civitta Armenia. Within five years, the Activity aims to equip 10,000 young people aged 15-29 in all marzes of Armenia with working skills, which are highly demanded in the labor market, and ensure 7,000 have better employment opportunities.
