Earlier this month Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) in partnership with “Data Science for Business” master’s program of Yerevan State University (YSU) and Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center (ISTC), organized NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute’s (NVIDIA DLI) “Fundamentals of Deep Learning” online workshop for the students of Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) in Ethiopia.

NVIDIA DLI offers hands-on training for developers, data scientists, and researchers looking to solve challenging problems with deep learning and accelerated computing.

Workshops, held on November 1 and 8, were provided by the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (NVIDIA DLI) Ambassadors, who are teaching at the “Data Science for Business” master’s program of YSU.

“Armenia is going through difficult times today, but despite that, we Armenians are paying a lot of attention to such events. I am convinced that this Armenian-Ethiopian cooperation will deepen and develop for the benefit of both countries,” noted Artem Aznaurian, Ambassador of Armenia in Ethiopia.

“Ethiopia and Armenia want to deepen bilateral cooperation in the fields of high technology, engineering and innovation. This pilot program, aimed at this goal, brings together Armenian lecturers and Ethiopian students to develop cooperation in the field of data science,” said Amalya Yeghoyan, Project Manager of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation.

The workshop designed for developers, data scientists, and researchers looking to solve challenging problems with deep learning and accelerated computing,  consisted of two lessons.

The first one was called “Fundamentals of Deep Learning for Computer Vision” , during which the students learnt deep learning techniques for a range of computer vision tasks. The second lesson “Fundamentals of Deep Learning for Multiple Data Types” used a series of hands-on exercises to teach deep learning techniques for a range of problems involving multiple data types.
